My wife teaches third grade Sunday school.\u00a0 This past Sunday, she taught about how Bartimaeus, a blind man,\u00a0received his sight.\u00a0 As Jesus and His disciples were leaving the city of Jericho, Bartimaeus, who was sitting\u00a0along\u00a0the roadside, shouted\u00a0“Jesus, have mercy on\u00a0me!”\u00a0 Many rebuked Bartimaeus and told him to be quiet but he shouted all the louder.\u00a0 This caught Jesus’ attention.\u00a0 He asked, “What do you want me to do for you?”\u00a0 Bartimaeus replied, “I want to see.”\u00a0 Jesus said, “Go, your faith has healed you.”\u00a0 My wife has grappled with this story all week.\u00a0 The insight that she gleaned from it is that we need to tell Jesus what it is that we want.\u00a0 He wants us to tell Him!\u00a0 The bible tells us that anyone who asks will receive.\u00a0 But we must have faith\u00a0– a great unwavering expectation that God will grant our request.\u00a0 Today, I got a call from my aging mother.\u00a0 She was upset and frightened.\u00a0 A doctor\u00a0had called her about the results of some tests that\u00a0were conducted earlier this week.\u00a0 Concerned about the test results, he wanted her to take additional tests today, and depending upon the outcome of tests, he was contemplating her admission to the hospital\u00a0– she has been admitted to the hospital several times over the past few months and was frightened at the prospect of readmission.\u00a0 I asked if we could pray for her.\u00a0 Like the blind man, Bartimaeus, we told God what it was that we wanted, and with great expectation, we anticipated favorable test results for my mother.\u00a0 This evening, we received a good report.\u00a0 My mother’s condition has improved, and according to her doctor, for no apparent reason.\u00a0 We know why.\u00a0 It’s because we told Jesus want we wanted, and we were very specific.\u00a0 And we had faith that Jesus would respond favorably.\u00a0 And He did.\u00a0 Jesus granted our request.\u00a0 If you need something, Jesus wants you to tell Him what it is that you want.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
