{"id":550,"date":"2015-02-04T10:03:52","date_gmt":"2015-02-04T15:03:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/christiansurvey.org\/?p=550"},"modified":"2015-02-05T13:00:12","modified_gmt":"2015-02-05T18:00:12","slug":"how-can-you-not-love-god","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/christiansurvey.org\/?p=550","title":{"rendered":"How can we not love God?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>How can we not love God?\u00a0\u00a0He fashioned us in His image.\u00a0 He created all things for our pleasure.\u00a0 He has given us dominion over the earth.\u00a0 We can&#8217;t even see\u00a0His creation\u00a0the way He intended because we have so corrupted it.\u00a0 And because of our corrupt nature, because we just can&#8217;t seem to get it right, He sacrificed His only Son as atonement for our wrong doings.\u00a0 Wow, what kind of love is that?\u00a0\u00a0My wife and I\u00a0have children, three young children, who we love so dearly, and\u00a0we wouldn&#8217;t sacrifice our children for anything, for anyone &#8211; period.\u00a0 \u00a0I can&#8217;t imagine why anyone would.\u00a0\u00a0But God did.\u00a0 He clearly loves us.\u00a0 If\u00a0you ponder\u00a0on what God has done for us, you will come to the same conclusion; He truly loves us, and loves us in a way that we cannot fathom.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0And, either\u00a0we have to love Him or I surmise that we don&#8217;t know Him.\u00a0 If we don&#8217;t know Him, hmmm &#8211; how\u00a0can we know His Son?\u00a0 And, if we don&#8217;t know His Son, we may be at risk of eternal damnation &#8211; yeah, I said it, &#8220;damnation,&#8221; an archaic word that lacks popularity with our culture today.\u00a0 What does it mean?\u00a0 Damnation refers to the eternal torment and punishment that we&#8217;ll suffer in the afterlife for\u00a0our wrongdoings in this temporal life\u00a0on earth.\u00a0 That&#8217;s a mouthful.\u00a0 It&#8217;s just easier to say damnation,\u00a0even if it is unpopular.\u00a0 So,\u00a0what are our choices?\u00a0 It&#8217;s not really a matter\u00a0of life\u00a0or death.\u00a0 More succinctly stated, it&#8217;s a matter of eternal life in the presence of a glorious God or eternal suffering, a suffering that we cannot appreciate even on our worst day.\u00a0\u00a0So, again, what are our choices?\u00a0 The way I see it, we only have one &#8211; to love God, to the extent that we can,\u00a0like He so deserves.\u00a0 How can we do this?\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Well, we can\u00a0start by getting back to the basics.\u00a0 We can\u00a0spend time, or more time, with God.\u00a0 We can read His word often\u00a0daily, pray\u00a0without\u00a0ceasing, and meditate on Him always.\u00a0 If we do this, how can we not love Him?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>How can we not love God?\u00a0\u00a0He fashioned us in His image.\u00a0 He created all things for our pleasure.\u00a0 He has given us dominion over the earth.\u00a0 We can&#8217;t even see\u00a0His creation\u00a0the way He intended because we have so corrupted it.\u00a0 And because of our corrupt nature, because we just can&#8217;t seem to get it right,&#8230;<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/christiansurvey.org\/?p=550\">Read more <span class=\"meta-nav\">&rarr;<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[45,44],"tags":[70,69],"class_list":["post-550","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-commitment-to-god","category-gods-love","tag-committment-to-god","tag-gods-love"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/christiansurvey.org\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/550","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/christiansurvey.org\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/christiansurvey.org\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/christiansurvey.org\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/christiansurvey.org\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=550"}],"version-history":[{"count":7,"href":"https:\/\/christiansurvey.org\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/550\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":559,"href":"https:\/\/christiansurvey.org\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/550\/revisions\/559"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/christiansurvey.org\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=550"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/christiansurvey.org\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=550"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/christiansurvey.org\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=550"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
