{"id":456,"date":"2015-01-23T14:14:37","date_gmt":"2015-01-23T19:14:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/christiansurvey.org\/?p=456"},"modified":"2015-01-27T22:59:26","modified_gmt":"2015-01-28T03:59:26","slug":"do-you-believe-in-miracles","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/christiansurvey.org\/?p=456","title":{"rendered":"Do you believe in miracles?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This is an extension of a post that was published yesterday entitled <em>&#8220;<a title=\"Do you believe in visions?\" href=\"https:\/\/christiansurvey.org\/?p=447\" target=\"_blank\">Do you believe in visions?<\/a>&#8220;<\/em>\u00a0 Visions, prophecy and miracles are all mystical things that happen in the bible.\u00a0 The word &#8220;mystical&#8221; is deliberately used here.\u00a0 It\u00a0means &#8220;having a spiritual meaning or reality that is neither apparent to the senses nor obvious to the intelligence&#8221;\u00a0and &#8220;involving or having\u00a0the nature of an individual&#8217;s direct subjective communion with God.&#8221;\u00a0<em>Merriam Webster Dictionary,<\/em>\u00a0Merriam-Webster Inc. (2015).\u00a0 I do not think that these definitions are necessarily mutually exclusive.\u00a0 Instead, I believe they go hand-in-hand.\u00a0 Mystical experiences are neither apparent to our senses nor obvious to our intelligence, and they involve communion with God.\u00a0 God works in a Spiritual realm that is not apparent to our senses or intelligence.\u00a0 The bible even tells us that He does great things beyond our understanding.\u00a0 I believe that He still performs miracles today just as He did in the bible.\u00a0 In fact, Jesus commanded the disciples to go out and preach the gospel.\u00a0 He said that those who believe and are baptized will be saved.\u00a0 And these signs will follow those who believe: they will cast out demons, heal the sick, and raise the dead.\u00a0 These are miracles.\u00a0 And, I do not see where there is any limitation, in space or time, with regards to performing miracles.\u00a0 So, I believe that God can work through us to perform miracles today.\u00a0 Any lack of miracles, I think,\u00a0is a consequence of our disbelief.\u00a0 \u00a0Even the disciples, who communed with Jesus, who witnessed His miracles firsthand, and in whom Jesus commanded to perform miracles, had limited faith in their abilities.\u00a0 And Jesus said to them, &#8220;Because of your unbelief [you could not\u00a0cast out\u00a0the demon]; for assuredly, if you have the faith of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, &#8216;Move from here to there,&#8217; and it will move; nothing will be impossible for you.&#8221;\u00a0 I believe that Jesus has given us the same power to perform miracles today.\u00a0 What about you?\u00a0 Do you believe in miracles?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This is an extension of a post that was published yesterday entitled &#8220;Do you believe in visions?&#8220;\u00a0 Visions, prophecy and miracles are all mystical things that happen in the bible.\u00a0 The word &#8220;mystical&#8221; is deliberately used here.\u00a0 It\u00a0means &#8220;having a spiritual meaning or reality that is neither apparent to the senses nor obvious to the&#8230;<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/christiansurvey.org\/?p=456\">Read more <span class=\"meta-nav\">&rarr;<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[54],"tags":[58],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/christiansurvey.org\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/456"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/christiansurvey.org\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/christiansurvey.org\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/christiansurvey.org\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/christiansurvey.org\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=456"}],"version-history":[{"count":6,"href":"https:\/\/christiansurvey.org\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/456\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":511,"href":"https:\/\/christiansurvey.org\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/456\/revisions\/511"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/christiansurvey.org\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=456"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/christiansurvey.org\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=456"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/christiansurvey.org\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=456"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
