This is a continuation of a post published yesterday entitled “How is your attitude?<\/a>“<\/em>\u00a0 It referred to a movie entitled “The Good Lie<\/a>,”<\/em> which was about civil war refugees who made a barefoot journey over 750 miles from South Sudan to Kenya.\u00a0\u00a0They had very little to sustain themselves.\u00a0 Aside from the clothes on their backs, all they possessed was a Bible,\u00a0a\u00a0small pot, and\u00a0the base of a glass bottle, the sharp edge of which they used\u00a0to trim their hair.\u00a0\u00a0We shared our thoughts about the movie with our children.\u00a0 They were so moved\u00a0by what we had shared that they wanted to sell their things to raise money to give to some\u00a0organization to aid the refugees.\u00a0 We were\u00a0very convicted.\u00a0 We have\u00a0such a nice home, with\u00a0modern amenities, and a wealth of excess.\u00a0 We replace perfectly good items while people on the other side of the globe lack essentials, like food, water and clothing.\u00a0 We are gluttons.\u00a0 What kind of message are we sending our children when we have so much and share so little with those who are desperately in need?<\/p>\n

Jesus said “I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not cloth me.”\u00a0 “Whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.”\u00a0 “Depart from me … into the eternal fire.” Does this motivate you to share what you have?<\/p>\n
