{"id":357,"date":"2015-01-16T22:29:26","date_gmt":"2015-01-17T03:29:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/christiansurvey.org\/?p=357"},"modified":"2015-01-28T08:53:21","modified_gmt":"2015-01-28T13:53:21","slug":"is-your-history-repeating-itself","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/christiansurvey.org\/?p=357","title":{"rendered":"Is your history repeating itself?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We all have a history.\u00a0 What&#8217;s in yours?\u00a0 I have talked to people who wish they had not always taken the narrow, less traveled\u00a0path.\u00a0 They feel separated from the world.\u00a0 They often feel\u00a0alone, unable to relate to those who have traveled the wider path, the one that leads to destruction.\u00a0 I envy these people who have had better judgment, who have not made the mistakes that I have made.\u00a0 I have made so many poor decisions.\u00a0 I have so often taken the wider path, the one that leads to destruction.\u00a0 Why?\u00a0 Sin is so enticing.\u00a0 It&#8217;s often associated with pleasure, or the avoidance of displeasure.\u00a0 That&#8217;s the hook, isn&#8217;t it?\u00a0 Consider the first sin.\u00a0 God bid Adam and Eve to enjoy everything in the Garden of Eden but for the fruit of one tree.\u00a0 As blessed as they were, what obliged them to sin?\u00a0 Imagine &#8211; they were living in paradise, in this majestic garden that God had created.\u00a0 They had each other.\u00a0 But most importantly, they were in community with the heavenly Father, the omnipotent God, the creator of all things.\u00a0 What more could they desire?\u00a0 They had but one restriction imposed upon them, they could not eat the fruit from the tree of knowledge of good and evil.\u00a0 What was so enticing about that tree for Adam and Eve to succumb to temptation?\u00a0\u00a0We are told that the serpent was crafty.\u00a0 He must have been very convincing\u00a0to lure them to partake of the tree.\u00a0 After all, he is the father of lies, a skillful deceiver.\u00a0 But, maybe there was something more compelling about the proposition.\u00a0 Was there something about the tree that attracted them?\u00a0 Maybe the tree was very pleasing to the eye.\u00a0\u00a0Maybe they were curious about the taste of the fruit.\u00a0 Or, maybe they wondered about the knowledge they would gain if they were to\u00a0indulge themselves.\u00a0 Isn&#8217;t sin like that?\u00a0 It often looks very pleasurable.\u00a0 It arouses our curiosity.\u00a0 But, in the end, it leads to destruction, in so many ways.\u00a0 Often, it doesn&#8217;t just affect us but it affects those around us.
