Do you remember when you first fell in love, the euphoric feeling that you experienced?\u00a0 I couldn’t spend enough time with my wife when I first met her.\u00a0 I remember sitting up with her until the wee hours of the morning and having to go to work early the next day.\u00a0 It seems like we got this adrenaline rush that sustained us.\u00a0 After a while, this tapered off.\u00a0\u00a0And\u00a0throughout the years, we have found that it takes effort to maintain our relationship, at least a quality relationship.\u00a0 I discussed some of the things that we do to maintain a quality marriage in our post entitled “How much time do you spend on your marriage?<\/a>”\u00a0\u00a0When I first committed myself to Christ, I had a similar experience.\u00a0 I didn’t have a euphoric feeling like I experienced with my wife but it was a unique feeling.\u00a0 For me, it was an obsession.\u00a0 This may not happen to everyone but regardless of the feeling that we experience when we first commit to Christ, the quality of our relationship with God will deteriorate if we don’t spend time with Him.\u00a0 How\u00a0can we spend time with God?\u00a0 We can read the bible daily.\u00a0\u00a0We can communicate with\u00a0God – pray to\u00a0Him and\u00a0listen to His still small voice.\u00a0\u00a0When\u00a0we\u00a0pray,\u00a0we can keep a prayer journal so that\u00a0we can see that God listens and responds to our prayers.\u00a0\u00a0We can worship God and fellowship with other\u00a0Christians.\u00a0 This draws us closer to Him.\u00a0 We can also grow closer to God by\u00a0serving Him, at our church, in our community, and through mission trips.\u00a0 What if\u00a0we saw little of someone and\u00a0our communication with them was sparse?\u00a0 Before long,\u00a0we would likely grow apart.\u00a0 It certainly wouldn’t\u00a0cultivate a quality relationship.\u00a0 It’s like this in our relationship with God.\u00a0 Is your relationship with God lacking?\u00a0\u00a0Do you want it to improve?\u00a0 If\u00a0you want a more rewarding relationship with God, try\u00a0spending more time with Him.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
